Hinking Gorges de Covatannaz – Chalet du Mont de Baulmes

The hike can be taken from either Vuiteboeuf (uphill) or Sainte-Croix (downhill).

The path passes through pastures before entering the forest, then following the Arnon river. The river winds its way through the bottom of the gorge, which has formed impressive rock faces. Waterfalls and rapids follow one another. At certain points, the path offers a splendid view over the plain.

Vuiteboeuf and Sainte-Croix are linked by a train with panoramic views.

If you don’t want to walk there and back, you can take the train every 30 minutes.

Aiguilles de Baulmes hike

The hike starts from the village of Sainte-Croix.
You’ll soon reach the forest and climb up to the Mont de Baulmes chalet, where you can enjoy a bite to eat.

A few steps from the chalet, at the orientation table, you can admire a panoramic view of the Alps and the lakes of Neuchâtel and Léman.

You then continue along the cliff face to the summit of the Aiguilles de Baulmes.

Return via La Gittaz to the starting point in the village of Sainte-Croix.

Alternatively, you can hike to the top of the Aiguilles de Baulmes and back from the chalet (approx. 1h45 – 2h).
